Pre-Nano Anxiety

So it’s nearly the second week of October, and I’m kind of starting to freak out about Nano. The problem is, I don’t know what to work on. I’ve got eight chapters of the second draft of Fire Tongue finished, but I haven’t worked on it in months. I read through my chapters last night as was pleased with them, but I get scared when I think about writing the rest of the book. Sure, I already wrote it once, but I’m rewriting massive chunks, so it feels like a completely different novel. I want so bad to just finish it and be done, but I feel like I’m crawling toward the finish line with one arm. Will I ever get there?

My other option is to work on a story that I’ve been thinking about and planning for a while. It makes me super excited just thinking about! New characters, a new world; it’s all so exciting! But if I start a new novel, I worry that I won’t even go back and finish Fire Tongue, and it will just continue to hang over my head and stress me out and make me feel like a failure.

So what do I do?! I’ve got to make a decision so that I can start planning and preparing.
