NaNoWriMo and Outlining

It's September, which means that NaNoWriMo 2014 is LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AWAY. Oh my gosh. I am caught somewhere between nervous jitters and coffee-fueled-excitment. I've been working on this new book, Fire Tongue, since April of this year and I hope/plan to finish it this November. But let me tell you what, I've got a LONG way to go. I've taken it through two Camp NaNo sessions, and it is currently less than half way done.

...WHAT THE HECK?

I feel like I haven't written all that much material, but I'm already over 45,000 words. I guess I need to start pulling all my plot strings together, which leads to my NaNo anxiety.

I know where my book is going, but I only have a few ideas about how it is going to get there. I don't like writing out every scene, but I do work much better when I have an outline to reference. I think my problem at this point is that I only have ideas, and I haven't arranged those ideas in a realistic and functional pattern. So it is my plan to get my outline nailed down before NaNo begins. That should be easy...right?
