As I write I'll be working with a template:
I'll be inserting basic information into each category and then making the language 'pretty'. Here's how I started:1) Establish setting

3) Plot trigger
4) Subplot
5) Main conflict
After I've established these main points, the next step is to go back in and describe each in more detail. After this work is complete, I end up with this:1) Establish setting
Greenehaven: a big forest2) Identify protagonist
Rima Bishop: member of the guard3) Plot trigger
Rima receives her first assignment4) Subplot
Rima and the Captain struggle to get along5) Main conflict
Rima has to deal with emotional burdens and figure out what to do with her life
This is still a rough draft, and I plan to get feedback on it and do a few rounds of edits. She trained at The Academy for six years to become a member of the Second Guard, but finds the work to be less than satisfying. After two years of breaking up fights over pork prices and egg quality, Rima receives her first assignment. It will take her away from her home and into the world she has always wondered about.
As a member of the guard, Rima has been trained to obey commands. But as she and her Captain struggle to cooperate, she starts to question the lessons that The Academy instilled in her.
Rima and her comrades will venture into foreign realms and enemy territory, and they’ll have to work together if they ever want to make it home. Along the way Rima will face her past demons and be forced to make decisions regarding the life she has chosen for herself.
