Welcoming the New Year!

2014 was a splendid year, but I’m always excited for change, and I have a feeling that 2015 will bring me just that. I am so looking forward to all the new experiences I’ll have, the new memories I’ll make, and of course the new books I’ll be reading and writing.

Over the break I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor, and I loved it! After seeing all the hype surrounding this book, I’ll admit I was expecting something a bit different. I was pleasantly surprised by the characters and plot, and I finished the book in only a few days after getting it for Christmas. I’m absolutely looking forward to getting the next book, but I’ve spent so much money on books lately that it will have to be after I get my next paycheck.

I also bought Rain by Amanda Sun, but I need to go out and buy Ink and read that first. It’s always a bummer when you accidentally buy the second or third book in a series first and then have to backtrack. But oh well! The cover art for these books is so amazing, though. Have you seen it? Look!

Amazing, right? The beautiful water color artwork was the whole reason I picked the book up in the first place. We do judge books by their covers, friends. It’s just the way things are.

As for my books, Fire Tongue is almost done! I’ve got about one chapter left to go, and then comes the task of printing out the entire manuscript. Once I have it finished I’m going to let it sit for a month or so, and then when I come back to edit I will have a fresh mind with which to look at the material. In the meantime, though, I’ve got a bare bones outline for a new story I want to write, and I’m going to fatten that up and really start character development and planning so that I’ll be all set to go when the time comes to write.

I’m still trying to decide once I’m going to do with Fire Tongue once it is completely finished later this year. Self-publish again, or send it to an agent? The decision is not an easy one to make, so I’ll be thinking on it a while longer.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and an even better year. Happy 2015!
